‘Roger Lougher is a dancing fool’ is a hybrid of dance, performance and witty presentation. Through a series of short choreographic sequences Roger aims to reframe notions of Landscape Art.
As part of a 2016 residency at Tintern Abbey, Lougher developed and performed a dance within the church ruins as a means of both finding empathy with the Picturesque and of drawing within the space. Roger has since developed this medium through further public performances during Miri Mai at Rhôd and Platform at Haverfordwest. He presents a mixture of old and new work tailored to the specific space that is Capel y Graig.
Landscape and language and community – Roger Lougher’s work is made in response to: landscape; how this is mediated, how we negotiate our relationship between the urban environment and the countryside, between nationality and provinciality, the centre and the periphery; language; the invention of nationhood, the idea of Wales, of a country layered by the sediment of language, of boundaries and the crossing of borders.
Roger Lougher is a sculptor, documentary photographer, installation artist and curator. He is co-instigator of Rhôd and co-chair of the Rhôd Committee (the organising force of Rhôd; an annual exhibition of contemporary art in Drefach Felindre, Sîr Gâr/Carmarthenshire)

Fel rhan o breswyliad yn Abaty Tyndyrn yn 2016, datblygodd Lougher ddawns o fewn adfeilion yr eglwys fel modd i ymdeimlo â Darluniaeth ac i ‘ddarlunio’ o fewn gofod. Ers hynny mae Roger wedi bod yn gweithio ar y cyfrwng mewn perfformiadau cyhoeddus yn Miri Mai/Rhôd a Platform yn Hwlffordd.

Mae Roger Lougher yn gerflunydd, ffotograffydd dogfenol,artist gosodiadol a churadur. Mae’n gyd-sefydlydd Rhôd a chyd-gadeirydd Pwyllgor Rhôd Committee (sydd yn trefnu arddangosfa flynyddol o gelf gyfoes yn Nhrefach Felindre, Sir Gâr).
