Ensõ  Lara Jones  2020

‘As I was creating I felt as though I was sharing with Capel, almost as if we were working like bandmates might work. I’d put something out there and it would give me something back, sometimes it would surprise me and I’d capture it and roll with it, sometimes we battled until we found the sound we both wanted, other times we spoke and shared harmoniously; we worked together. You can’t be with Capel Y Graig and not interact with it, it was an amazing experience…..’ Lara Jones

‘Wrth i mi greu, ro’n i’n teimlo fel ’swn i’n rhannu gyda’r Capel, bron fel pe baen ni’n gweithio fel y byddai mêts mewn band yn gweithio. Byddwn i’n rhoi rhywbeth allan fan’na a byddai’n rhoi rhywbeth yn ôl i mi. Weithiau byddai’n fy synnu a byddwn yn ei ddal ac yn mynd gyda fo, ac weithiau bydden ni’n brwydro nes i ni gael hyd i’r sŵn roedden ni’n dau ei eisiau; dro arall bydden ni’n siarad ac yn rhannu’n gytûn – bydden ni’n cydweithio. Allwch chi ddim bod gyda Capel y Graig a pheidio â rhyngweithio gyda fo – profiad anhygoel oedd o.’ Lara Jones

Sacsoffonydd, perfformwraig fyrfyfyr, cyfansoddwraig, addysgwraig a chyd-weithredwraig yw Lara Jones sy’n rhannu ei bywyd rhwng Leeds a Llundain. Mae’n aelod o J Frisco, triawd jazz sy’n creu seinluniau byrfyfyr sy’n hylifol o ran genre a sŵn a dynnir o faterion sy’n ymwneud â’r emosiynau, gwleidyddiaeth a rhywedd. Mae Lara yn aelod o Beyond Albedo, pedwarawd retro-ddyfodolaidd rhyngserol ac yn Gyd-gyfarwyddwr Northern Contemporary Collective, ensemble o gerddorion, artistiaid a dawnswyr sy’n defnyddio gofodau anarferol, byrfyfyrio a ffurfiau trawsgelfyddydol ac sy’n cyflwyno gweithdai addysgol yng Ngholeg Cerdd Leeds.
Yn ystod ei phreswyliad 6 diwrnod dwys yma yn y Capel, bydd Lara yn gweithio ar ysgrifennu a recordio ei halbwm cyntaf sy’n edrych ar symudiad cylchol siwrnai drên y mae wedi’i gwneud yn rheolaidd rhwng Leeds a Llundain dros y 12 mis diwethaf. Wedi’i hysbrydoli gan y syniad/symbol Japaneaidd o Enso, mae Lara yn anelu at fynegiant ymgorfforedig o’r ennyd, gan adael lle i afreoleidd-dra ac i ddyfod, wrth gwestiynu cyfyngiadau prosesau canfyddedig y Gorllewin tuag at ’berffeithrwydd’.

Yn anffodus bu’n rhaid i ni ganslo Preswyliad Artist / Arddangosfa Zosia Jo oherwydd y Coronafeirws.
Mae’r Capel a finnau’n siomedig iawn; fodd bynnag, rydyn ni wir yn gobeithio y gall Zosia ddod â Fabulous Animal i’r Capel yn y dyfodol.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel Zosia Jo’s Artist’s Residency/ Exhibition due to the Corona Virus.
Y Capel and I are very disappointed, however, we do hope Zosia can bring ‘Fabulous Animal’ to y capel in the future.

Fabulous Animal is a research project, an approach, a method and an attitude. It is a feminist approach to dance and movement and a performative project. In this multi-artform exhibition Zosia Jo presents a snap shot of her current practice through photography, film and an experiential installation.
Step into the creature’s den and find your own Fabulous Animal

Prosiect ymchwil, dull ac agwedd yw Fabulous Animal. Ymagwedd ffeministaidd yw hi tuag at y ddawns a symudiad ac yn brosiect perfformiadol. Yn yr arddangosfa hon â’i haml ffurfiau ar gelfyddyd, mae Zosia Jo yn cyflwyno ciplun o’i gwaith presennol drwy ffotograffiaeth, ffilm a gosodwaith arbrofol.
Camwch i ffau’r creadur a chael hyd i’ch Anifail Rhyfeddol eich hun.

‘The long, dark night of the end of history has to be grasped as an enormous opportunity. The very oppressive pervasiveness of capitalist realism means that even glimmers of alternative political and economic possibilities can have a disproportionately great effect. The tiniest event can tear a hole in the grey curtain of reaction which has marked the horizons of possibility under capitalist realism. From a situation in which nothing can happen, suddenly anything is possible again.’
Mark Fisher, extract from Capitalist Realism

I am hosting a day for deep listening, discussion, and co-creation on climate justice for artists and activists.

The focus will be on collective work. We will come as individuals but leave our individual self at the door. We will let go of our need to ‘find the solution’, and move with the creative flow of the collective.

To sign-up, you must email me with an expression of interest, a short bio, and reason for taking part by the 6th March

If you are an artist and would like to hold space for the collective in some way, please also get in touch, the day is open for shared facilitation and co-leadership.

You are welcome to invite friends and contacts.

Capel y Graig is an art space in the Dyfi Valley in mid-Wales. It is committed to activating critical dialogue through experiment and research. To work with the Capel as a space of congregation and worship, we will open the day with a secular ceremony. It is also home to a fabulous curated library containing a diverse selection of art/social/critical/cultural theory. https://capelygraig.org/llyfrau-library/

Why Wales?
I have a deep connection to the hills and valleys of Shropshire and mid-Wales. The open spaces of the landscape and expansive skies, as well as an active political and creative context, makes this a great site to testbed ideas. Thank you for considering taking part!

Rosie Strickland is an art director and designer based in London, producing compelling visual communications, campaigns and creative interventions for climate and environmental justice.

Ceisio Cyfiawnder Hinsawdd: Cyd-ddychmygu a Chyd-greu

Dw i’n cynnal diwrnod i artistiaid ac actifyddion ar gyfer gwrando’n astud, trafod a chyd-greu mewn cysylltiad â chyfiawnder hinsawdd.

Bydd y ffocws ar waith ar y cyd. Byddwn ni’n dod fel unigolion ond yn gadael yr hunan unigol wrth y drws. Byddwn yn gollwng ein hangen i ‘gael hyd i’r ateb’ a symud gyda llif creadigol y grŵp.

I gofrestru, rhaid i chi fy e-bostio gyda datganiad o ddiddordeb, bywgraffiad byr a’ch rheswm am gymryd rhan.
